SpeakUp AI Privacy Policy

SpeakUp AI (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy.
This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the SpeakUp AI mobile application (“the App”).
SpeakUp AI is designed for students, including minors, and follows a privacy-first, minimal-data approach.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

SpeakUp AI does not:

  • Require user accounts

  • Collect names, email addresses, or phone numbers

  • Track precise location

  • Access contacts, photos, or files

  • Store biometric identifiers

  • Display advertisements

  • Sell or share personal data

2. Audio Recordings

Recording Use

  • Audio recordings are created only when you choose to record

  • Recordings are used solely to:

    • Generate a transcript

    • Produce AI coaching feedback

Storage & Deletion

  • Recordings are stored temporarily on your device

  • Once grading is completed:

    • The audio file is automatically deleted

  • SpeakUp AI does not permanently store audio recordings

3. Transcripts & Feedback

After grading, the following information is stored locally on your device:

  • Text transcript of the speech

  • AI-generated feedback and coaching notes

  • Practice metadata (prompt, duration, timestamps)


This information:

  • Remains on your device

  • Is not uploaded or synced to cloud storage

  • Can be deleted by uninstalling the app

4. Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

SpeakUp AI uses third-party AI services to:

  • Convert speech to text (transcription)

  • Generate structured coaching feedback

  • Create speaking prompts (optional)

What is shared with AI services
Only the following is sent:

  • Audio recording (temporarily)

  • Prompt topic

  • Practice duration

  • Selected difficulty and language


What is not shared

  • Personal identity

  • User accounts

  • Device identifiers

  • Contact information


All AI requests are sent via a secure server (proxy) to protect API keys and user privacy.

5. Children’s Privacy

SpeakUp AI is suitable for children and students.

  • No personal data is collected

  • No user registration is required

  • No audio is retained after grading

  • No behavioral profiling is performed

 

Parents and schools can use SpeakUp AI confidently as a practice and learning tool, not a monitoring system.

6. Data Security

We use:

  • Secure communication (HTTPS)

  • Server-side API key protection

  • Local-only storage for session history

  • Minimal data handling by design

Because SpeakUp AI stores data locally, users maintain full control over their information.

7. Third-Party Services

SpeakUp AI uses third-party services only to provide core functionality:

  • Speech transcription

  • AI-generated feedback


These services process data only for the requested operation and do not receive identifying information.

Audio recordings
Deleted immediately after grading


Transcript & feedback
Stored locally on device


App data
Removed when app is uninstalled

9. User Choices & Control

You can:

  • Stop recording at any time

  • Choose whether or not to grade a recording

  • Review feedback history locally

  • Remove all data by uninstalling the app

10. Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated occasionally to reflect improvements or legal requirements.
Any changes will be published with an updated “Last Updated” date.
